8-bit SAR ADC with flexible input mux
The MAX1111CEE+ is an 8-bit successive-approximation (SAR) ADC from Analog Devices, sampling at 50 ksps. It belongs to the MAX1111 family of low-power serial ADCs designed for embedded data acquisition where a compact footprint and single-supply operation matter. The input front-end combines a 2- or 4-channel multiplexer with a sample-and-hold, configurable as differential or single-ended. That means a single part handles both ratiometric sensor pairs and single-ended voltage monitoring without an external mux. Data transfers over a standard SPI interface — the serial clock shifts out the conversion result on the falling edge, so the host MCU reads the 8-bit word with any SPI master running at the bus voltage.
No separate Vref or Vdd split is needed, which simplifies the power tree on a mixed-signal board. The reference can be driven externally or drawn from the internal bandgap. For ratiometric measurements the external reference pin tracks the sensor excitation; for absolute readings the internal reference holds a stable 2.5 V typical.
Surface-mount assembly with a tube shipment format — the tube protects the leads during handling and feeds directly into a pick-and-place feeder with a tube-to-tape adapter.
