Eight channels, 250 kSPS per channel — simultaneous capture
The MAX11046ETN+ is an 8-channel, 16-bit successive-approximation (SAR) ADC that samples all eight inputs simultaneously at 250 kSPS per channel — the 1:1 S/H:ADC ratio means each channel has its own track-and-hold, so the phase relationship between channels is preserved at the conversion result. This matters for multi-phase power monitoring or vibration analysis where the timing skew between channels would alias the measurement. The parallel data interface outputs all eight conversion results on a 16-bit bus — no serial latency, no daisy-chain delay.
Supply rails and reference — two decisions that set the noise floor
The analog supply is a fixed 5 V rail — the ADC's internal SAR core and input sampling network draw from this. The reference can be either external or internal — using the internal reference saves a component but ties the full-scale range to its accuracy; an external reference decouples the ADC's gain drift from the internal bandgap. In a 250 kSPS continuous conversion stream, the power dissipation is dominated by the digital I/O switching, not the analog core.
ROHS3 compliant, so it passes the EU RoHS exemption roll-up without a waiver. The tube package (56-WFQFN) is the standard production format; no special handling beyond normal MSL moisture sensitivity for the QFN package.
