Six simultaneous SAR channels — what that means for your acquisition
The MAX11045ECB+ packs six independent 16-bit SAR ADCs, each sampling simultaneously at 250k samples/s. That is not a multiplexed front-end — each channel has its own track-and-hold and converter, so you get six phase-aligned samples at the same instant. For multi-phase power monitoring, vibration analysis across several accelerometers, or synchronised sensor arrays, this eliminates the inter-channel skew a multiplexed ADC introduces.
Single-ended inputs, parallel interface — keep the routing simple
Inputs are single-ended, so each channel needs one signal line and a shared ground — no differential pair routing. The data interface is parallel, which means a 16-bit-wide bus to the host controller or FPGA. That is straightforward for a processor with a parallel memory interface, but it does consume more I/O than a serial interface would. Budget the pins on your host side before committing the layout.
Reference and supply — external or internal, 5 V analog
The reference can be driven externally or sourced from the internal reference. The analog supply is fixed at 5 V; the digital supply runs from 2.7 V to 5.25 V.
Package and temperature — industrial, surface-mount with exposed pad
Housed in a 64-TQFP exposed pad (10x10 mm), surface-mount. The exposed pad needs a thermal land on the PCB and a soldered connection to the ground plane for heat sinking — do not leave it floating. The -40°C to 85°C operating range covers industrial enclosures, outdoor telecom cabinets, and factory-floor instrumentation without requiring a hermetically sealed package.
Lifecycle and compliance — active, ROHS3
The MAX11045ECB+ carries an active lifecycle status and is ROHS3 compliant.
