SPI isolation in a µModule package
It provides 3500Vrms galvanic isolation across a 3V to 5.5V supply range, with 3 inputs on side 1 and 3 on side 2 — all unidirectional. The part supports SPI clock rates up to 4MHz or 8MHz depending on the mode, with a typical propagation delay of 100ns and rise/fall times of 3ns. Its 50kV/µs common-mode transient immunity makes it suited for motor drives, industrial inverters, and isolated sensor interfaces where fast voltage transients are present.
What the 50kV/µs CMTI rating means for your BOM
The 50kV/µs minimum common-mode transient immunity is the standout spec for this isolator. In a motor-drive or UPS application, the switching node can slam the isolation barrier with tens of kilovolts per microsecond. A lower CMTI part risks data corruption or latch-up. The LTM2892HY-S#PBF's 50kV/µs rating gives margin over the 25kV/µs typical of many iCoupler alternatives, reducing the need for external filtering or snubbers on the isolated SPI bus.
Package and temperature grade
No isolated power is generated on-chip — the part requires separate isolated supplies on each side, which is typical for SPI isolators used in multi-domain systems.
