The Analog Devices LTM2889IY-3#PBF is an isolated CAN transceiver that integrates both the digital isolation and the CAN physical-layer transceiver into a single 32-BBGA module. It is designed for industrial CAN, DeviceNet, and general-purpose fieldbus nodes where galvanic isolation is required between the CAN controller and the bus. The module provides 2500VRMS isolation across two channels, enough to break ground loops and protect the controller side from transients on the bus cable.
Package and mounting — BGA module layout
The part comes in a 32-BBGA module with a supplier device package of 32-BGA (15x11.25). It is surface-mount only. The BGA footprint means the PCB layout must account for the ball pattern and the module's body size. Given the module construction, reflow profile should follow the supplier's recommended thermal profile for BGA modules — the internal construction is not a standard laminate BGA. MSL handling applies; bake before reflow if the moisture-barrier bag has been open past the floor-life window.
