Isolated RS422/RS485 transceiver with onboard DC-DC
The Analog Devices LTM2881MPY-5#PBF is a µModule isolated RS422/RS485 transceiver that integrates a magnetic coupling isolation barrier and an isolated DC-DC converter into a single 32-BBGA package. It delivers 2500Vrms of galvanic isolation between the bus-side and logic-side interfaces, eliminating the need for a separate isolated power module on the BOM.
What the 2500Vrms isolation and 30kV/µs CMTI mean for the bus
The 2500Vrms isolation rating provides reinforced protection for RS422/RS485 nodes in industrial environments where ground potential differences between equipment cabinets can exceed tens of volts. The 30kV/µs minimum common-mode transient immunity keeps the receiver from latching or bit-flipping when a motor drive or relay bank switches a high-voltage bus — a common failure point in factory-floor RS485 networks. The integrated isolated power (Yes) means the LTM2881MPY-5#PBF generates its own isolated-side supply rail internally, so the BOM does not require a separate DC-DC converter or transformer driver for the bus side.
Temperature range and deployment environment
The 32-BGA (15x11.25mm) package is surface-mount only; the module's BGA footprint requires the standard PCB land pattern and a reflow profile compatible with a 32-ball array.
