Product details

6-channel SPI isolator with integrated power

The Analog Devices LTM2810CY-S#PBF is a µModule® digital isolator purpose-built for SPI buses. It packs six unidirectional channels — three from Side 1 to Side 2, three the opposite direction — exactly matching the signal count for a full SPI port (SCK, MOSI, MISO, plus three chip-select or interrupt lines) without needing a separate transceiver. Magnetic coupling technology delivers 7500Vrms isolation, which is the highest rating in the µModule isolator family and covers reinforced insulation requirements in medical and industrial power equipment. Data rate hits 10 MHz, fast enough for most SPI peripherals — ADCs, DACs, digital potentiometers, and external memory — without stretching the clock cycle. The integrated isolated power rail means you feed it a single 1.62V to 5.5V supply on one side and get a clean isolated output on the other; no external DC-DC converter or separate isolated supply needed. That saves roughly 100 mm² of board area versus a discrete isolator-plus-converter solution.

7500Vrms isolation — where it matters

The 7500Vrms isolation voltage is the standout spec. It's designed for systems where safety isolation must hold off high-voltage transients or continuous working voltages above 600V. Typical deployment: motor-drive feedback interfaces, grid-tied inverter comms, medical patient-monitor links, and EV charging-station control boards. The 50kV/µs common-mode transient immunity keeps data intact when a 1kV+ step hits the isolation barrier — a common failure mode in IGBT-switched environments.

Propagation delay is 100 ns max (both directions), with pulse-width distortion capped at 50 ns. For a 10 MHz SPI clock (100 ns period), the delay eats one full clock edge — the designer must account for that in the timing budget, especially on multi-drop buses where the isolator delay stacks with cable and transceiver delays. Rise and fall times are 350 ns typical / 250 ns max, which is slow enough to keep emissions low but fast enough for the rated data rate.

Package and supply range

Housed in a 36-ball BGA module measuring 22 mm × 6.25 mm. Surface-mount only, no through-hole option. Supply range is 1.62V to 5.5V on both sides, so it works with 1.8V, 2.5V, 3.3V, and 5V logic domains without level shifters. Temperature grade is commercial: 0°C to 70°C, which suits controlled indoor environments but not automotive or extended-industrial applications.

Lifecycle and compliance

No NRND or EOL flags.

Frequently asked questions

Does LTM2810CY-S#PBF have isolated power?

Yes, integrated isolated power is included — no external DC-DC converter needed. A single 1.62V to 5.5V supply on one side powers both sides of the barrier.

Can LTM2810CY-S#PBF be used for SPI isolation?

Yes, it is designed for SPI. Six unidirectional channels (three each direction) match the standard SPI signal set plus chip selects, and the 10 MHz data rate covers most SPI peripherals.
