Programmable silicon oscillator — no quartz, no external timing components
The LTC6992HDCB-2#TRMPBF is a silicon oscillator from the TimerBlox® family that generates a square-wave output from 3.81Hz up to 1MHz. It is not a quartz crystal — the frequency is set by a single external resistor and a voltage on the MOD pin, so you can tune it in-circuit without swapping a crystal. Supply current is 365 µA typical, and the operating range spans 2.25V to 5.5V, which means it runs directly off a 3.3V or 5V rail without a separate LDO.
Package and layout — exposed-pad DFN needs a thermal land
The part comes in a 6-WFDFN exposed pad package, supplier device package 6-DFN (2x3). Without that land, the junction temperature rises faster under load, especially at the high end of the temperature range.
