Frequency range and supply rail — the fit check
This silicon oscillator covers 1 kHz to 68 MHz — a span that replaces ceramic resonators and low-end crystal oscillators in microcontroller clocking, data-interface timing, and sensor-excitation roles. Supply current is 7 mA, low enough for battery-powered gear if the duty cycle is managed.
Temperature grade and package — indoor use, fine-pitch footprint
The 8-MSOP package has a 0.65 mm lead pitch; the PCB land pattern must match the MSOP-8 footprint, and the 3.00 mm body width fits tight layout zones.
Programming interface — 3-wire SPI
The LTC6903 uses a 3-wire SPI-compatible serial interface to set the output frequency via a 10-bit code. No external resistor or capacitor is needed — the frequency accuracy depends on the internal master oscillator and the serial word. This makes it a drop-in replacement for a fixed-frequency oscillator when the system can supply the SPI configuration at power-up.
