Current sense amplifier for high-side monitoring
The LTC6101AHMS8#PBF is a single-channel current sense amplifier from Analog Devices designed to measure current by amplifying the voltage drop across an external shunt resistor. Its 4 V to 60 V supply span means it can monitor rails from a 5 V logic supply up to a 48 V industrial bus without an external regulator. The 200 kHz gain-bandwidth product supports monitoring of DC currents and low-frequency AC ripple, making it suitable for load-current telemetry in power supplies, motor drives, and battery-management systems where the signal of interest changes at sub-kHz rates.

Accuracy parameters for the measurement chain
Input offset voltage is 85 µV maximum, which sets the zero-current error floor. With a 10 mΩ shunt, this offset translates to an 8.5 A equivalent input-referred error — the shunt value must be chosen so that the offset contribution is acceptable for the minimum sensed current. Input bias current of 100 nA flows into the sense inputs. For shunt values above 1 Ω, the voltage drop from bias current becomes comparable to the offset voltage and must be accounted for in the error budget. The single 1 mA output drive can feed a microcontroller ADC input directly or drive a comparator threshold.
