Product details

Lead-acid monitor, 3–12 cells, I²C bus

The LTC4162IUFD-SADM#PBF is a lead-acid battery monitor from the PowerPath™ series, tracking 3 to 12 series cells over an I²C interface. Fault protection covers over-current, over-temperature, and over-voltage conditions — three common failure modes in charging systems that would otherwise cook the electrolyte or lift the terminals.

28-QFN with exposed pad, industrial temp range

Housed in a 28-lead WFQFN with exposed pad (4×5 mm body), the part requires a thermal land on the PCB to pull heat from the internal power FETs — the pad must be soldered to a copper plane for the full -40°C to 125°C junction range to hold. The 125°C TJ ceiling covers engine-bay or sealed-enclosure ambient where the self-heating from the charge path adds 30–40°C above the air temperature.

Active production, ROHS3, sourced per RFQ

ROHS3 compliant per the manufacturer's declaration; no halogen or phthalate exemptions claimed.

Frequently asked questions

Is LTC4162IUFD-SADM#PBF the same as LTC4162IUFD-SAD#PBF?

The two share the same die, package, and I²C address — the suffix difference indicates a factory-programmed default register set. Functionally they are interchangeable in the same socket; the BOM can accept either without a board spin.

What battery chemistry does this monitor support?

Lead-acid only — flooded, AGM, and gel profiles are handled by the internal charge algorithm. Not suited for Li-ion or LiFePO4 without external cell balancing.
