Step-down controller for high-voltage rails
The LTC3864IMSE#PBF is a non-synchronous buck controller from Analog Devices, designed to regulate a positive output voltage from a wide 3.5 V to 60 V input supply. It drives an external N-channel MOSFET, making it suitable for converting high-voltage rails down to a lower, regulated output.
Switching frequency and control flexibility
The controller supports 100% duty cycle operation, which means the output can run at the input voltage minus the dropout across the external FET and inductor — useful in battery-powered systems where the input sags close to the output. Control features include current limit, enable, frequency control, power good, and soft start, giving you the hooks to sequence rails and protect against overcurrent conditions without extra glue logic.
