Single comparator with a 1.182 V reference on-chip
The LTC1440CMS8#TRPBF is a single comparator with an integrated voltage reference and 50 mV of hysteresis. It draws a maximum of 4.4 µA quiescent supply current. Outputs are CMOS and TTL compatible, rated for 40 mA typical sink/source. Supply range spans 2 V to 11 V single or ±1 V to ±5.5 V dual.
15 µs propagation delay — what it means for the loop
Maximum propagation delay is 15 µs. For a battery undervoltage lockout or overvoltage crowbar trigger, that translates to a detection latency of roughly one to two clock cycles on a slow microcontroller. The 80 dB CMRR and 80 dB PSRR keep the threshold stable across common-mode shifts and supply transients — important when the monitored rail is also the comparator supply. Input offset maxes at 10 mV at 5 V, which combined with the 50 mV hysteresis gives a clean switching window with no chatter near the trip point.
Package and tape form factor
Housed in an 8-MSOP with 0.118" body width, surface-mount only. The 8-MSOP footprint is shared with the LTC1440CMS8#PBF (tube) variant, so a single PCB layout supports either procurement path. Operating temperature is commercial grade, 0°C to 70°C — suited for benchtop instruments, office equipment, and indoor industrial controls, but not extended-temperature automotive or outdoor telecom.
Lifecycle and compliance
Status is Active per the manufacturer. ROHS3 compliant.
