Wide-input forward converter controller with synchronous drive
It accepts a 6V to 100V supply rail, making it suitable for primary-side control in industrial and telecom power supplies where the bus voltage can range from a regulated 12V to a rectified 100V bulk rail. The controller draws 3.8 mA quiescent current, which keeps the self-bias overhead low when the auxiliary winding is still ramping up during startup.
Without that via pattern, the junction temperature rises faster than the datasheet thermal resistance assumes. Surface-mount assembly with the exposed pad means the reflow profile must wet the pad fully — a cold solder joint under the pad lifts the thermal path and the part runs hot.
Drop-in high-temperature variant
For designs that need to push beyond 125°C — under-hood automotive, downhole instrumentation, or engine-bay power stages — the LT8310HFE#PBF extends the operating range to 150°C while keeping the same 20-TSSOP-EP footprint and 6V to 100V supply range. No PCB layout change required.
