Product details

2.5V shunt reference — ±0.05% initial accuracy

The LT1634BCMS8-2.5#PBF from Analog Devices is a precision shunt voltage reference delivering a fixed 2.5 V output with ±0.05% initial tolerance — the tightest bin in the LT1634 family. That 0.05% spec means the output sits within 1.25 mV of 2.5 V at 25 °C before any temperature or load effects, which is the margin a 12-bit ADC's reference input needs to hold its last LSB without gain calibration. For a 12-bit system with a 2.5 V reference, that drift eats about 0.7 LSBs — acceptable for most industrial control loops, but a 16-bit design would want the 15 ppm/°C grade (LT1634ACS8-2.5) or a series reference with lower drift.

50 mA output — shunt architecture with muscle

This is a shunt (two-terminal) reference, not a series regulator. The 50 mA output current rating means the device can sink up to 50 mA from the load while maintaining regulation — the total current through the reference is the load current plus the 8 µA minimum cathode current. That 50 mA capability is unusually high for a shunt reference; it lets the LT1634BCMS8-2.5#PBF bias multiple ADC inputs, a DAC reference pin, and a comparator threshold divider off the same reference without an external buffer.

Active lifecycle — still a design-in part

That means it remains a valid choice for new BOMs and production builds — no forced migration timeline to manage. ROHS3 compliance covers EU and global RoHS requirements without exemption conflicts. Package is the 8-MSOP (3.00 mm width, 0.118-inch pitch), supplied in tube. Surface-mount assembly with standard reflow profiles;.
