Fixed 5V boost in an 8-pin DIP — legacy through-hole power design
The LT1303CN8-5#PBF is a fixed-output boost converter in an 8-pin DIP through-hole package. It accepts an input from 1.8V to 10V and delivers a regulated 5V output at up to 750mA switch current, switching at 155kHz.
The 1.8V minimum input voltage means this regulator can start up and deliver 5V from a pair of nearly-depleted alkaline batteries (down to 0.9V each) or from a single lithium-ion cell through most of its discharge curve. The 10V maximum input gives headroom for 5V or 9V wall-wart supplies without a pre-regulator. For a battery-powered product that needs a 5V rail for sensors, a microcontroller, or a display, the LT1303CN8-5#PBF handles the boost stage with a single inductor and a Schottky diode — no external switch transistor needed.
Active production and ROHS3 — no EOL concern for new builds
The ROHS3 compliance covers the full substance restriction list, so it passes environmental review for EU and global markets without an exemption chase.
For a production run or a repair stock order, the active lifecycle status means the supply channel is the standard distribution network — not a broker-only scavenger hunt. The through-hole DIP package is a mature form factor with consistent supply from multiple stocking locations.
