Multi-topology regulator for 12 V / 24 V industrial rails
The LT1076IT#PBF is a 2 A switching regulator from Analog Devices that handles buck, boost, and flyback topologies — one IC covers step-down, step-up, and inverting supplies from a single 8 V to 45 V input rail. Output is adjustable from 2.5 V to 35 V, positive or negative, so it can generate 3.3 V logic rails, 5 V sensor supplies, or 24 V field loops from the same BOM position. Switching frequency is fixed at 100 kHz — lower than modern controllers, which means larger magnetics, but the loop compensation is straightforward and the part is forgiving of layout parasitics.
Through-hole TO-220-5 — rework-friendly, legacy footprint
The TO-220-5 package (supplier device package TO-220-5) is a through-hole 5-pin power tab — the tab is the switch node and carries the thermal path to the PCB or heatsink. Delivered in tube packaging — not tape-and-reel, so it is a manual-placement or bench-rework part, not a high-speed pick-and-place line item. No synchronous rectifier on-chip — the external Schottky catch diode is a required BOM addition; the efficiency at low output voltages is lower than a modern synchronous buck, but the total component count stays at five or six parts.
Industrial temperature grade and compliance
Rated for -40°C to 85°C ambient — the industrial temperature band covers factory-floor cabinets, outdoor telecom shelters, and HVAC controllers, but not under-hood or 125°C+ environments. ROHS3 compliant — no exemptions for lead in solder or PBB/PBDE flame retardants, so it passes EU RoHS and China RoHS without a waiver.
