The LM4050BEX3-2.5+T is a 2.5 V fixed-output shunt voltage reference from Analog Devices, housed in a SC-70-3 (SOT-323) package. As a shunt (two-terminal) reference, it behaves like a precision Zener diode: you set the bias current with a single resistor from the supply rail to the cathode. The 65 µA minimum cathode current sets the upper limit on that resistor value; the 15 mA maximum output current defines the load it can drive while staying in regulation.
Noise floor and output current — fit for precision analog rails
Output noise is specified at 35 µVrms over the 10 Hz to 10 kHz band — low enough that a 16-bit ADC with a 2.5 V reference input sees less than 0.5 LSB of reference noise contribution. The 15 mA output current can simultaneously bias an op-amp front-end and provide the reference voltage to an ADC, eliminating a separate buffer stage. The fixed 2.5 V output matches the common full-scale input of many SAR and delta-sigma ADCs. No external divider resistors are needed, saving two components and the associated drift path.
ROHS3 compliant per the manufacturer's declaration.
