8-digit LED driver with 250 µA supply draw
The ICM7218AIPI+ is a CMOS LED display driver that handles up to 8 digits of 7-segment common-cathode displays through a serial interface. It integrates the segment drivers, digit drivers, and a multiplex scan oscillator on-chip, so the only external components are the LED current-setting resistors and bypass caps. Supply current is 250 µA typical — the part draws microamps even while scanning all eight digits, because the multiplex oscillator and internal logic run lean. That makes it a fit for battery-backed panel meters or handheld instruments where the display is on continuously but the power budget is tight.
2V to 6V supply, 28-pin DIP footprint
Operating supply range is 2V to 6V, covering single-cell Li-ion down to near-depletion and 3.3V or 5V regulated rails. The 28-pin DIP (0.600-inch row spacing) is a through-hole package — the 28-PDIP supplier device package is the same body, so the footprint is standard 0.100-inch pitch with 0.600-inch row spacing. Temperature grade is -20°C to +85°C, which covers most indoor and industrial enclosure environments but not extended automotive or outdoor direct-sun exposure. The serial interface (SPI-compatible) uses three lines: data in, clock, and load — no parallel bus needed, which keeps the MCU pin count low.
