Product details

Charge pump inverter in 8-SOIC

The ICL7662CBA+ is a ratiometric charge pump from Analog Devices that generates a negative output voltage equal to the input voltage (-Vin). It accepts a 4.5 V to 20 V input range and delivers a fixed negative output, making it a direct drop-in for generating a -5 V rail from a +5 V supply or a -12 V rail from a +12 V bus. Housed in an 8-SOIC package (3.90 mm width), this surface-mount part fits standard pick-and-place assembly and reflow profiles. The Tube packaging means it ships in antistatic tubes of 96 or 100 units, typical for prototype builds or low-volume production runs.

10 kHz fixed-frequency operation

Switching at 10 kHz, the internal oscillator drives the charge-pump capacitors without requiring an external clock. The fixed frequency simplifies input and output filtering—a 10 µF capacitor on each side yields ripple low enough for most analog supply rails. The single output is configured as a negative rail with no synchronous rectifier, meaning the output diode drop adds to the effective impedance. For a 10 mA load, expect about 0.8 V of dropout from the ideal -Vin value at room temperature.

Commercial temperature grade and board-fit constraints

It is not qualified for automotive or extended industrial temperature ranges—the die and package are not characterized below freezing. The 8-SOIC footprint (0.154" body width, 1.27 mm pitch) is a common JEDEC outline.

Active production and sourcing posture

It is ROHS3 compliant (lead-free, no restricted substances above threshold), and the standard Analog Devices warranty applies.
