Active 8051 MCU with OTP firmware lock
The DS87C530-QCL+ is an active-production 8-bit microcontroller from Analog Devices, built around the 8051 core and clocked at 33 MHz. Program memory is 16 KB of one-time-programmable (OTP) ROM — firmware is written and locked at the factory, with no field-erase capability. This makes the part a fit for high-volume, firmware-fixed applications where code changes are not expected after deployment. On-chip RAM is 1K x 8, which budgets for the register file, stack, and small data buffers typical of 8051 control loops.
Supply rail and temperature grade
Built-in peripherals include a power-fail reset and watchdog timer (WDT), which together provide brownout resilience and automatic recovery from software hangs without external supervisor ICs.
Package and board integration
Housed in a 52-lead PLCC with J-leads (52-LCC), the supplier device package is 52-PLCC measuring 19.13 x 19.13 mm. The J-lead footprint is surface-mount and suits socketed or soldered assembly — the PLCC socket is a common choice for prototyping and field-replaceable modules. 32 I/O lines are available for general-purpose digital control, with connectivity options including EBI/EMI for external memory or peripheral expansion, plus SIO and UART/USART serial interfaces.
