Three independent pots, three different resistance values
The Maxim DS3901E+ packs three separate digital potentiometer channels into a single 14-TSSOP package, but unlike a matched triple, each channel carries a different end-to-end resistance: 20 kΩ, 30 kΩ, and 50 kΩ. Each channel provides 256 wiper tap positions with a linear taper characteristic, controlled over an I²C interface with a selectable address so multiple DS3901E+ devices can share the same bus. The wiper position is stored in non-volatile memory, meaning the setting survives a power cycle — useful for calibration constants or trim values that should not need reloading at every power-up.
The typical temperature coefficient of 50 ppm/°C is tight enough that the resistance drift across the full temperature span stays within the ±20% tolerance band for most trim and adjustment uses.
Package and footprint
The supplier device package code is 14-TSSOP — same mechanical outline as the generic TSSOP-14. No exposed pad, so thermal dissipation is through the leads only; for continuous operation near the 95°C upper limit, keep the load current modest.
Lifecycle and compliance
The part is ROHS3 compliant, meeting the current EU restriction standard without exemptions.
