Product details

1Kbit EEPROM with a 1-Wire bus — what that means on the bench

The DS28E01P-100+ is a 1Kbit serial EEPROM from Analog Devices that communicates over a single-wire 1-Wire interface — the same bus used by the DS18B20 temperature sensor and iButton family. That one-wire data line also carries power, so the part needs only two connections to the host: the IO pin and ground. Memory is organized as 256 x 4 bits, and the 2 µs access time means the host reads a byte in roughly the time it takes the 1-Wire protocol to address the device.

Package and board-fit for the rework bench

Housed in a 6-SMD J-Lead package (6-TSOC), the DS28E01P-100+ is surface-mount with the leads tucked under the body — no exposed gull-wing to bend during handling. The J-lead footprint is common enough that a standard hot-air rework station can swap it without a dedicated stencil. The Tube packaging means it ships in a stick, not tape-and-reel, which is typical for smaller production runs or engineering samples. Operating temperature covers -40°C to 85°C, so it handles industrial enclosures and outdoor equipment without a grade bump.
