16Kbit OTP EPROM on a single-wire bus
The DS2505P+T&R from Maxim Integrated is a 16Kbit one-time-programmable EPROM that communicates over a 1-Wire interface. Organized as 16K x 1, it delivers a 15 µs access time and operates from -40°C to 85°C, making it suitable for industrial and outdoor equipment where field reprogramming is not required. The 6-TSOC package with J-leads fits compact surface-mount designs.
OTP memory: no field updates possible
This is an EPROM - OTP device, meaning the memory is programmed once at the factory or during board-level programming and cannot be erased or rewritten. For designs that require firmware updates in the field, a Flash-based alternative would be needed. The 1-Wire interface reduces pin count to a single data line plus ground, simplifying PCB routing and connector requirements.
15 µs access time — what it means for the bus
The 15 µs access time defines the delay from the read command to valid data on the 1-Wire bus. For a host microcontroller polling this device, the read cycle must accommodate this window. In a multi-drop 1-Wire network, the combined timing of all slaves must fit within the host's time slot budget.
Industrial temperature range and package
Rated for -40°C to 85°C, this part is specified for outdoor telecom cabinets, factory automation sensors, and engine-bay electronics where the ambient temperature swings beyond commercial limits. The 6-TSOC package is a surface-mount J-lead design that reflows onto standard PCB pads without through-holes.
Lifecycle and compliance
It is ROHS3 compliant, so it meets the latest EU restriction-of-hazardous-substances requirements for new builds.
