Dual 45kΩ logarithmic digital potentiometer with I²C interface
The DS1882E-050+ is a dual-channel, 45 kΩ digital potentiometer with 64 wiper taps per channel, configured in a logarithmic taper. It is controlled via an I²C-compatible serial interface and stores the wiper position in non-volatile memory, retaining the setting at power-up.
Parametric profile and key features
Each of the two potentiometer channels provides 64 wiper positions with a typical wiper resistance of 160 Ω. The logarithmic taper is well-suited for audio volume control, where perceived loudness follows a logarithmic scale. The device includes a mute function that can rapidly attenuate the signal path, a zero-cross sense circuit to minimize audible clicks during wiper transitions, and a selectable I²C address to allow multiple devices on the same bus. The resistance tolerance is ±20%, and the typical temperature coefficient is 750 ppm/°C, which should be factored into designs requiring tight absolute accuracy across temperature.
Package, mounting, and compliance
The DS1882E-050+ is supplied in a 16-lead TSSOP package (16-TSSOP, 4.40 mm width) for surface-mount assembly. The supplier device package is designated 16-TSSOP. Analog Devices lists the part as Active in production and ROHS3 compliant.
