3.06V threshold and the fit decision
The DS1816R-5+T&R is a single-channel Simple Reset/Power-On Reset supervisor from the EconoReset series. Its 3.06V threshold is the voltage at which the active-low open-drain output asserts reset — choose this variant when the monitored rail (typically a 3.3V supply) must hold above 3.06V before the system is allowed to run. For a microcontroller with a fast-starting internal oscillator, this is generous; for an external crystal or PLL, it is adequate without external delay components.
Package and temperature grade
Housed in a SOT-23-3 (TO-236-3, SC-59) surface-mount package, the DS1816R-5+T&R occupies minimal board area and is straightforward to rework with hot air. The three-pin footprint — VCC, GND, and open-drain RST — keeps the layout simple; no external pull-up is needed on the reset output if the load side already has one, but the open-drain topology allows the reset line to be shared with other open-drain supervisors. The industrial temperature range covers the majority of factory-floor and infrastructure deployments without the cost premium of a -40°C to +125°C part.
It remains a current-production part suitable for both new designs and ongoing BOM replenishment. ROHS3 compliant, it meets the EU RoHS exemption-free standard, which simplifies compliance for products shipping into European and many other regulated markets.
