Dual 256-tap digital pot in a 14-TSSOP
The DS1803E-010+ is a dual-channel digital potentiometer from Analog Devices, packing two independent 10kΩ pots with 256 wiper taps each into a single 14-TSSOP package. The linear taper means each tap step changes resistance by an equal increment — critical for applications where the transfer curve must be predictable, such as volume control in audio gear, programmable gain amplifiers, or calibration trims in instrumentation. With two pots in one 4.4 mm-wide TSSOP, the DS1803E-010+ saves board area compared to using two single-channel digital pots. The I²C interface with selectable address lets you put up to eight of these on a single two-wire bus, which matters when you need multiple adjustment points in a compact mixed-signal design.
Supply, temperature, and package fit
The 14-TSSOP package has a 0.173-inch body width and 0.65 mm pin pitch — a standard footprint that places without issues on a two-layer board. No exposed pad, so the reflow profile is straightforward; check the MSL before placing, but the package is common enough that most assemblers handle it without special setup. Wiper resistance is 400Ω typical, which sets the minimum end-to-end resistance when the wiper is at the top stop. The temperature coefficient of 750 ppm/°C is typical for a CMOS digital pot — the ratiometric accuracy between taps is tighter than the absolute drift, so it works well in divider configurations where the ratio matters more than the absolute resistance.
Active lifecycle and compliance
ROHS3 compliant with no exempted substances, so it passes current EU RoHS requirements and the foreseeable revision. Memory type is volatile — the wiper position resets to mid-scale on power-up, so the system must initialize the pot setting during boot. This is the same behavior as most CMOS digital pots; if non-volatile wiper storage is required, a different part family would be needed.
