The DS1342U+ is a real-time clock (RTC) from Analog Devices, providing a full clock/calendar function with alarm, leap-year compensation, and square-wave output. It communicates over an I²C 2-wire serial bus, making it a drop-in for any microcontroller with an I²C peripheral. Timekeeping current is only 0.6 µA to 0.7 µA at 3 V to 5 V, so the RTC adds negligible drain to a battery-backed supply rail.

Housed in an 8-lead TSSOP/MSOP package (0.118-inch, 3.00 mm width), the supplier device package is 8-uMAX/uSOP. The small footprint keeps the PCB area under 15 mm², and the 0.65 mm pin pitch is routable on a two-layer board with standard design rules.
