Real-time clock with battery-backed NVSRAM
The Maxim DS12885SN+ is a parallel-interface real-time clock and calendar that keeps time in YY-MM-DD-dd date and HH:MM:SS 12/24-hour format. It integrates 114 bytes of nonvolatile SRAM, so configuration data survives a main power loss without an external EEPROM. On-chip features include alarm, daylight savings adjustment, leap-year compensation, and a square-wave output for driving a periodic interrupt or blinking an indicator.
Industrial temperature range and package
Rated for -40°C to 85°C, the DS12885SN+ fits outdoor telecom cabinets, factory-floor controllers, and other environments where the board sees temperature swings. The 24-SOIC wide-body package (0.295-inch body width, 7.50 mm) is a standard footprint that reflows cleanly and is straightforward to inspect or rework under a hot-air station — no hidden pads, no micro-BGA challenges.
Lifecycle and sourcing
The DS12885SN+ carries an Active lifecycle status and is ROHS3 compliant. For BOM planning, this means no near-term obsolescence risk and no need to qualify a drop-in replacement.
