What the 4.375V threshold means on the bench
This is a simple reset/power-on reset IC — it monitors a single voltage rail and pulls the reset output low when the supply drops below 4.375 V. That threshold is aimed at 5 V logic rails: the supervisor holds the processor in reset until the supply is stable, then releases after a minimum 250 ms timeout. The active-low, open-drain output means it can be wire-ORed with other reset sources (a manual reset button or a watchdog) without contention — just add a pull-up resistor to the logic supply.
TO-92-3 package — through-hole fit
Housed in a TO-226-3 / TO-92-3 with formed leads, the DS1233D-10+T&R is a through-hole part. It suits prototype boards, point-to-point wiring, or designs where a surface-mount supervisor would be awkward to route or replace. The three-lead footprint is standard — drop it into the same holes as a typical transistor.
