16Kbit NVSRAM with 200 ns access — the battery-backup killer
The DS1220AD-200+ is a 16Kbit (2K x 8) Non-Volatile SRAM from Analog Devices that combines the fast read/write of a standard SRAM with on-chip non-volatile storage, eliminating the need for a backup battery in data-retention applications. With a 200 ns access time and a parallel interface, it drops into legacy 8-bit bus systems without timing headaches. The 200 ns access time means the part can keep up with most 8-bit microcontrollers and older CPLD-based memory controllers without wait states — a common pain point when retrofitting battery-backed SRAM sockets.
Through-hole 24-DIP — hand-solderable and breadboard-ready
Housed in a 24-DIP Module (0.600", 15.24mm) with through-hole mounting, the DS1220AD-200+ is a natural fit for prototyping boards, legacy equipment repairs, and designs where hand-soldering is preferred. The 0.600-inch row spacing is standard for wide DIP sockets. The 24-EDIP supplier package is the same footprint as a standard 24-pin DIP — no special layout tricks needed.
Active production — no end-of-life scramble
ROHS3 compliant, so it meets the latest EU environmental directives without requiring a waiver or special handling.
Supply voltage and temperature — indoor-only, 5 V rail
Operates from a single 4.5V to 5.5V supply — the classic 5 V logic rail found in many industrial controllers, test equipment, and retrocomputing projects.
