Fixed-frequency clock source — no PLL, no surprises
The Maxim Integrated DS1099U-AG+ is a fixed-frequency clock generator from the EconOscillator™ family. It takes a clock input and delivers two CMOS/TTL outputs at 1.048 MHz and 16.375 kHz, with a 1:2 input-to-output ratio. There is no PLL on die — the output frequencies are derived from the input clock via a divider chain, so you get deterministic timing with no VCO jitter to budget for. This makes it a clean drop-in for applications that need a known, repeatable clock source without the complexity of a synthesizer. The supply range spans 2.7 V to 5.5 V, covering both 3.3 V and 5 V logic families without a secondary regulator. Operating temperature is rated from -40°C to 125°C, so it holds timing in industrial enclosures, outdoor telecom cabinets, and under-hood automotive environments.
Package and footprint
Housed in an 8-pin TSSOP/MSOP package (3.00 mm width, 0.118" body), the DS1099U-AG+ uses the 8-uMAX/uSOP supplier package designation. Surface-mount only. The small footprint suits space-constrained boards where a can oscillator would be overkill.
Lifecycle and compliance
It is fully ROHS3 compliant, so it passes European and global environmental requirements without an exemption.
