16:1 analog multiplexer in 28-SOIC
The DG506ACWI+T is a 16-channel single-ended analog multiplexer from Analog Devices, routing one of sixteen inputs to a common output through a 16:1 multiplexer/demultiplexer circuit. Housed in a 28-SOIC package with a 7.50mm body width, it is a surface-mount part suited for automated assembly on mixed-signal boards where channel count per package matters.
On-resistance and switching speed
Maximum on-state resistance is 450 ohms — this is the series resistance between the selected input and the output. For a 10 kΩ source impedance, the 450 Ω R_on adds roughly 4.5% gain error in a voltage divider; for lower-impedance signals the error is proportionally smaller. Switching times are 1 µs max for turn-on and 400 ns max for turn-off, which sets the channel-switching ceiling at roughly 500 kHz for a 50% duty-cycle waveform before the output settles to within 0.1% of final value. The dual-supply range of ±4.5 V to ±18 V lets the multiplexer handle bipolar analog signals up to ±15 V common-mode, typical for industrial ADC front-ends and data-acquisition systems.
Leakage and capacitance
Maximum off-channel leakage current is 5 nA — at 25°C this is negligible for a 16-channel system, but leakage doubles roughly every 10°C and at 70°C the total leakage from 15 off-channels sums to about 75 nA worst case, which matters for high-impedance sensor inputs above 100 kΩ. Channel capacitance is 6 pF on the source side and 45 pF on the drain side — the 45 pF CD(off) limits the -3 dB bandwidth when driving a high-impedance load, but is manageable for signals below 100 kHz with a 10 kΩ source.
