2.8V fixed LDO for always-on and battery rails
The ADP160ACBZ-2.8-R7 is a 150 mA linear regulator from Analog Devices' ADP160 family, delivering a fixed 2.8 V output from a maximum 5.5 V input rail. The single regulator output is configured as positive fixed, with an enable pin for external on/off control. Protection features — over-current, over-temperature, and under-voltage lockout (UVLO) — are integrated, so the rail stays within safe operating area during a fault without an external supervisor.
The 1.25 µA typical quiescent current (Iq) is the regulator's own draw at no load. For a device that sleeps at 10 µA system current, this regulator adds only 12.5% overhead — acceptable for a coin-cell application where every microamp matters. The maximum supply current is 65 µA, which is the figure to budget for worst-case quiescent draw across temperature. The junction temperature limit is not stated here, but the 125°C ambient ceiling leaves margin for self-heating at 150 mA if the board has reasonable copper area under the WLCSP.
WLCSP footprint and reel options
The ADP160ACBZ-2.8-R7 comes in a 4-ball WLCSP (0.96 x 0.96 mm) — the 4-WFBGA, WLCSP package code. This is a wafer-level chip-scale package with no mould compound; the die backside is exposed. The 0.96 mm body means the PCB land pattern must match the ball pitch and diameter per the ADI recommended footprint, typically 0.4 mm pitch with 0.25 mm NSMD pads. It is supplied in Tape & Reel (TR) or Cut Tape (CT) options — the -R7 suffix indicates 7-inch reel tape-and-reel packaging. Surface-mount assembly with standard reflow profile; the WLCSP requires careful solder paste volume control to avoid head-in-pillow defects on the small balls.
