500 mA LDO, 1.3 V fixed rail, 6.5 V input ceiling
The ADM7170ACPZ-1.3-R7 is a single-output positive LDO from Analog Devices, delivering a fixed 1.3 V at up to 500 mA from a maximum input of 6.5 V. The 2 mA quiescent current and 5.1 mA maximum supply current define the overhead for always-on rails in battery-powered or energy-conscious designs. The Enable and Soft Start pins give the board designer control over power-up sequencing and inrush current limiting.
Package and thermal: 8-LFCSP with exposed pad
The exposed paddle is the primary thermal path — the datasheet layout recommendation should be followed for full 500 mA output at high ambient. Surface-mount assembly with Tape & Reel or Cut Tape packaging options. The 0.50 mm pitch and 3x3 mm footprint fit dense mixed-signal boards where a small LDO is needed near the load.
Protection and control feature set
Built-in over-current and over-temperature protection latch the output off during fault conditions, then auto-recover when the junction cools. No external protection diode is required for the output — the internal current limit handles short circuits. The Soft Start pin accepts an external capacitor to set the ramp rate; leaving it open results in a typical 0.5 ms startup.
