The adjustable output from 0.8 V up to 55.2 V covers core voltages for FPGAs, ASICs, and MCUs as well as higher-voltage peripheral rails. The single positive output is configured as a buck topology with integrated synchronous rectification, eliminating the external catch diode and improving efficiency at light loads. ## Switching frequency and thermal envelope The switching frequency is programmable from 100 kHz to 2 MHz via an external resistor. At the low end, switching losses drop and efficiency peaks — useful for noise-sensitive analog rails. At 2 MHz, the inductor and output capacitor shrink, saving board area in a dense layout. The trade-off is higher FET switching loss, which must be balanced against the thermal budget. The PowerPAK® MLP55-27 package has an exposed thermal pad on the bottom; the board's copper plane and vias under the pad set the effective RthJA. A 4-layer PCB with thermal vias is typical for dissipating the 6 A output at high duty cycle.
