The mute function holds the outputs at a known state during power sequencing. Short-circuit and thermal protection shut down the output stage before the die or load is damaged — these features reduce the external component count compared to a discrete Class AB build. ## Package and thermal interface The TO-220-15 package has an isolated tab, so the heatsink does not require an insulating pad for electrical isolation — the tab is electrically neutral.
